Avelyron Games, an indie studio focused on cinematic storytelling, approached Trifleck to build a complete mobile action-adventure game. They had a great vision but lacked the technical team, art pipeline, and production structure to execute it. They came with sketches and ideas. They needed a full development partner.
The Vision
The vision was to create Shadowbound Trails — a mobile action-adventure game set in a world of forgotten ruins, shadow creatures, and ancient elemental magic.
The game needed to balance fast, mobile-friendly combat with exploration, puzzles, story progression, and smooth performance on mid-range devices.

Pre-Production Discovery
We began with a focused three-week pre-production sprint to define the foundation of the game. While the world and tone were compelling, there was no structured narrative, gameplay system, or technical architecture in place.
Our team translated ideas into a complete narrative blueprint, gameplay framework, level structure, and production roadmap.

Key Challenges
The story lacked pacing, quest flow, and character arcs, requiring a full narrative structure from scratch.
Gameplay ideas such as combat, stealth, puzzles, and boss encounters existed only at a conceptual level, with no defined systems.
Art direction needed clarity to unify dark fantasy themes with glowing elemental energy while remaining mobile-optimized.

Our Approach & Solutions
Trifleck handled the entire game development lifecycle — from narrative design and gameplay systems to art production, animation, UI/UX, engineering, and optimization.
We designed a fast, touch-optimized combat system, handcrafted levels across multiple biomes, a structured enemy hierarchy, and a progression system that rewarded players without overwhelming them.
All systems were built within a scalable technical architecture optimized for mobile performance.

Results & Impact
Shadowbound Trails launched globally after extensive testing and refinement, delivering a smooth and polished gameplay experience. Within the first 60 days, the game achieved over 50,000 downloads, an average session length of 9.4 minutes, and a Day 7 retention rate above the genre average. Players consistently praised the combat fluidity, art style, level variety, and boss design — validating the success of a fully integrated development approach.
